Collier County goes back under a heat advisory from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday at an index of 105 to 110, while both Lee County zones sit empty and the office that covers Lee writes its only Florida heat product for Levy.

Collier County is under a heat advisory on Thursday, August 13, running from noon to 7 p.m., with forecast heat index values of 105 to 110.
The National Weather Service office in Miami sent the advisory at 1.42 a.m. It covers fifteen zones across south Florida, including both Coastal Collier and Inland Collier, alongside Glades, Hendry, Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and mainland Monroe. The product is rated moderate in severity and likely in certainty, and it expires at 7 p.m.
Its own headline reads that the advisory is in effect from noon today to 7 p.m. this evening. The WHERE field describes the area simply as all of South Florida.
Lee County is not in it. Both Lee zones, Coastal Lee and Inland Lee, were queried directly shortly after half past two on Thursday morning, and both returned nothing active at all.
Tuesday was the reverse. The Tampa Bay Ruskin office, which covers Lee, had Coastal and Inland Lee inside its own heat advisory that day, forecasting an index of up to 109 on the same noon to 7 p.m. hours.
That office did write a Florida heat advisory this morning. Its only one covers Coastal Levy and Inland Levy, well up the Gulf coast, on the same noon to 7 p.m. window as the Miami product. Lee is named nowhere in it.
The two counties move independently for administrative reasons rather than meteorological ones. Lee falls under the Tampa Bay Ruskin forecast office and Collier falls under Miami, and each writes its heat products on its own event numbers without reference to the other. Nothing about the air changes at the county line.
The instruction attached to the Collier advisory is the service's own: take extra precautions outside, wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing, try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening, and take action at the first symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
