Chubb's net income fell. The insurer reported net income of $2.85 billion, or $7.30 a share, for the second quarter of 2026, down from $2.97 billion a year earlier, in a release dated July 21. Almost everything underneath it rose.
Core operating income, which strips out realized investment gains and losses, was $2.84 billion, or $7.26 a share, up 18.2 percent per share. Underwriting drove it. Property and casualty underwriting income rose 18.8 percent to $1.94 billion, on a combined ratio of 83.8 percent, which means Chubb kept about 16 cents of every premium dollar after claims and expenses. Pre-tax net investment income was a record $1.76 billion, up 12.3 percent, and net premiums written were $14.7 billion, up 3.6 percent.
