A car hit a tree on Orange River Loop Road in Buckingham around midnight, and twelve hours on the sheriff's office has not said whether anyone was hurt

A car crashed into a tree around midnight on Tuesday on Orange River Loop Road in Buckingham, according to Gulf Coast News, which reported the crash early on Tuesday morning.

The outlet reported that the car was towed from the scene and that its own crews saw the tree still lying in the road at 2 a.m. It reported that deputies were still working to determine how the crash happened and whether anyone was injured.

That is the whole of what has been established, and it rests on the outlet alone. There is no primary document behind this account. The Lee County Sheriff's Office had issued nothing on the crash by the middle of Tuesday, so there is no cause, no identification and no confirmed injury, and this site is not going to supply any of the three by inference.

Nor can this site say whether the road has since been cleared. The tree was reported down in the carriageway at 2 a.m. and no agency has published anything about it since, so a driver on that stretch should treat a possible obstruction as live until the county says otherwise.

Orange River Loop Road is a two lane county road through unincorporated Buckingham, east of Fort Myers and north of the Orange River, unlit along much of its length.

One thing about it is worth a reader's attention beyond this crash. County roads do not appear on the Florida Highway Patrol incident feed, which covers state roads and the interstates, so a Buckingham road closure will not show on the map a lot of people check. It surfaces when a local outlet sends a crew or when the sheriff's office publishes. An empty FHP map is not an all clear for a road like this one.
