AT&T left its guidance where it was and put more money into buying back its own stock. The company said it would accelerate planned repurchases this year to about $10bn, in results dated July 22, while reiterating all of its full-year 2026 and multi-year targets.

Revenue rose 2.3 percent to $31.6bn. Diluted EPS from continuing operations was $0.66, against $0.62 a year earlier, and adjusted EPS was $0.65, up from $0.54. Adjusted EBITDA rose 5.2 percent to $12.3bn, and free cash flow was $4.7bn, a little above the $4.4bn of a year earlier.

The subscriber lines are where the strategy shows. AT&T added 432,000 postpaid phone customers, with churn of 0.86 percent, and 367,000 fiber net adds alongside 279,000 on fixed wireless. It now reaches 38.6 million locations with fiber and remains on track for more than 40 million by year-end. John Stankey, the chair and chief executive, called fiber the best connectivity technology available and the company's structural advantage.
